Doctors of the North Shore has developed Sick Call to meet the needs of our acutely ill patients. It is designed for the treatment of simple, acute illnesses. This would include symptoms that have arisen within the previous 24 to 48 hours.

Sick Call is for the problems that began recently. Typical problems that we see in Sick Call include sore throat, cough, bladder infection, conjunctivitis (pink eye), a rash or infections, muscle strain and sinusitis. Such conditions are considered non-life threatening, but severe enough to interfere with normal work activities or daily living.

Chest pain or shortness of breath may be a symptom of a serious condition. For this reason, the best management begins with a call to 911.

Sick Call is not for: chronic symptoms or conditions lasting more than a week, any follow-up care from a previous medical visit (here or at another facility, including the ER), complicated problems, psychological conditions, any routine exam or routine blood work.

These conditions are best treated by setting up an appointment with your primary care physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant at Doctors of the North Shore.

Patients in Sick Call will be taken in order of arrival, except for the cases of medical emergencies as determined by the medical staff.
